The growing trend of healthy living makes the opportunities for producers to produce organic plantation products more wide open. Today the global market is increasingly leading to healthy food by consuming organic products, including organic plantation products.

Plt. Director General of plantation of the Ministry of Agriculture, Ali Jamil said, the magnitude of the potential of organic products in Indonesia can be seen from the number of planters that produce organic products is increasing, the number of organic product stores is also increasing, healthy lifestyle trends are increasing, and more and more organic lover organizations. In fact, today there are already various organic certification bodies.

Based on Organic Trade Association data on the Global Organic Trade page. Indonesia along with five other countries, namely India, Ethiopia, Tanzania, Uganda, and Peru are the main producers of organic products. Meanwhile, the destination countries for exporting organic products are the USA, Germany, and France.

“There are more than 150 assisted organic villages scattered in various provinces with organic plantation products such as organic coffee products, chocolate or organic cocoa beans, organic black pepper, organic coconut oil, tea, Vanilla, Cashew, palm sugar, and organic Ant sugar and other organic products, ” said Ali as reported from the page ditjenbun.pertanian.go.id.

Seeing its potential that is still wide open, the Ministry of Agriculture through the Directorate General of plantations continues to improve the competitiveness of plantation commodities in order to be able to penetrate the world market.

The reason is that today many consumers are interested in derivative products from plantation commodities, let alone organic. Products that are in demand on average can have a good impact on health.

“The government continues to encourage and motivate planters to develop processed organic plantation commodities with environmentally friendly standards to meet global market demand for quality, safe, and healthy plantation products for consumption, and not damaging the environment, able to sustain agricultural development including sustainable plantations,” said Ali Jamil.
